Disney and Marvel announce Games Showcase for September 2022

The D23 Expo will officially host a Games Showcase on September 9th, 2022, including a variety of both Disney and Marvel titles. This includes Disney Dreamlight Valley, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and more.

Here’s the announcement from Marvel Games’ feed, which adds that reveals and trailers will feature both new and upcoming games:

One of the highlights of the announcement is the promise of a sneak peek at Skydance New Media’s upcoming Marvel ensemble game. Skydance New Media was founded in 2019 with Amy Hennig at the helm. They’re also working on a big Star Wars project, so fans might also expect some news for that too.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns has been promoting loads of upcoming heroes, such as Wolverine and Captain Marvel’s new Hero Spotlight. A lot of fans are hoping for a Marvel-themed fighting game, akin to the classic franchise Marvel vs. Capcom.

However, Marvel’s Avengers is probably the biggest MCU-style game right now, and it’d be great to hear more content about that title. Adding more story chains and unique heroes, like Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange or The Wasp would be very refreshing.

An update for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga would be pretty surprising, given how much content it’s already got. The game has been pretty buggy since launch, and although the devs mostly cleared up some of the bigger hurdles, those are the kinds of improvements fans are mainly asking for.

The big Games Showcase will stream on a variety of platforms, and it’s currently scheduled for 1 PM pacific time. Kinda Funny’s Blessing Adeoye Jr will be hosting the showcase.

Developer interviews and special guests are expected for the in-person event, so keep an eye out for announcement immediately following the livestream too.
