Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot reveals next-gen release date for 2023

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, the action RPG that recently released in 2020, has officially revealed that it will be coming to next-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles on January 13, 2023. The game promises “enhanced graphics” and 60 fps in its new release date trailer:

Dragon Ball Z remains a beloved IP, and the open-world RPG elements of Kakarot proved to be a resounding success with the majority of fans. It found a way to successfully capture the spirit of the franchise, by combining the flair of its famous combat appealing mechanics and a respect for the lore.

Currently, Dragon Ball is keeping up the hype with other games like Dragon Ball: The Breakers, an asymmetrical twist on the series that is due to release this month on October 14th, 2022.

While borrowing from asymmetrical horror games should be a fun way to reinvent the epic battles of the franchise, it doesn’t offer the same level of immersion as an RPG. Most Dragon Ball games have focused exclusively on the combat, but Kakarot really tied together all of the most satisfying mechanics of previous installments that were looking for more.

However, the game was released not long ago, so many fans were concerned about having to purchase it all over again. Fortunately, today’s announcement was promptly followed by a few other statements, one of which officially stated that the upgrade will be free for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners:

Deluxe and Legendary Editions will also be available on January 13th, 2023, teasing fans with more story arcs. It can be pretty rare for pre-orders like this to actually include any new content, which will surely renew interest in the existing playerbase.
