Final Fantasy 7: Reunion releasing December 13

Originally released April 10, 2020, the Final Fantasy 7 remake took fans of the franchise by storm. Now, two years later, we’re getting the second installment of the three-part story. On December 13, players will be able to get their hands on Final Fantasy 7: Reunion, which will launch on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

This information comes from the Final Fantasy 7 official Twitter account, which teased the game with a fantastic trailer showcasing some of what we can see come December.

This second installment of a three-part remake, Reunion will be the remakes’ version of Crisis Core. For those who aren’t familiar with Crisis Core and are wondering why the player character has changed, have no fear; Reunion is a prequel to the events in Intergrade and features Zack Fair, a young member of SOLDIER. You’ll still see Cloud in this game, and he should be returning as the player character in the third installment of the series.

Fans of the series shouldn’t expect a carbon copy of the original Crisis Core, however. As noted by fans, the timeline in Intergrade is noticeably different than the original Final Fantasy 7, implying that the remake series takes place in a separate universe. Thus, we can expect some potentially significant story changes in this version of Crisis Core as well.

Regardless, it’s exciting to see some of Crisis Core’s beloved characters remade for next-gen systems. Angeal, Sephiroth and Genesis will all be present, and it looks like you’ll be able to play with some of them in your party.
