Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is the most recent installment in Nintendo’s Fire Emblem series. The new hack-and-slash combat game offers exciting gameplay and a story set in an alternate timeline of the previous Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Before beginning their journey, players have the opportunity to customize a few aspects of the game’s difficulty to enhance their overall gaming experience to their liking. If you want to know which difficulty mode you should choose, we’ve got you covered in this guide!

Difficulty Level, Game Mode, and Play Style

To set your preferred difficulty modes in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, you must start a new game. Afterward, you will be asked to choose between the available Difficulty Level, Game Mode, and Play Style.

There are three Difficulty Levels to choose from – EasyNormal, and Hard. Later on, you may change the Difficulty Level anytime via Settings. Meanwhile, you may choose between Classic or Casual Game Mode. You may also change the Game Mode through the Settings menu, but you can only downgrade from Classic to Casual and not vice versa.

For the Play Style, you may select Slow and Steady or Quick and Efficient. If you are undecided about which Play Style you prefer, you may change it mid-game using the Settings menu. The following below are some insights on each Difficulty level, Game Mode, and Play Style options:

Difficulty Levels

  • Easy: Recommended for players who just want to enjoy the story. In this level, unranked and side enemies cannot deal damage to you. Ranked enemies are also easier to defeat at this level.
  • Normal: Recommended for beginners and intermediate players. At Normal level, Unranked enemies may also inflict damage on you, however, much like in Easy mode, ranked and named enemies are easier to defeat since you deal larger damage to them.
  • Hard: Recommended for players who like challenges. In this difficulty level, dealing damage to ranked and named enemies will be harder since your Awakening Gauge and Warrior Gauge fill up more slowly compared to Easy and Normal mode.

Game Mode

  • Casual: In this Game Mode, fallen units and playable characters with zero Health Points will be revived after a battle.
  • Classic: In Classic Mode, every decision counts. Once you reach Chapter 4 and further, fallen units and playable characters will remain dead even after the battle.

Play Style

  • Slow and Steady: A great Play Style for beginners, since it allows more Tutorial Pop-Up Windows along with necessary strategic information, such as leveling up stats and mission briefings throughout mid-battles and missions.
  • Quick and Efficient: Recommended for players who want to dive straight into the action of battles as it only shows the most important tutorials and skips the level-ups and mission briefings.
