Gigantosaurus Dino Kart, a new kart game spin-off from Gigantosaurus the Game, has just been revealed with a brand-new gameplay trailer. While no release date has been confirmed, the trailer promises that it’s “coming soon”, hinting at an early 2023 launch.
Gigantosaurus Dino Kart is expected to be available on multiple platforms, including Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC. You can watch the full trailer on YouTube here:
Both Dino Kart and the original Gigantosaurus game are based on a kids’ educational TV show, so the tone from publisher Outright Games is naturally very friendly. Most kart games lean towards competitive mayhem, while Dino Kart offers more “advantages” on the track and moves a little slower.
The courses look gorgeous, with surprisingly promising graphics. It genuinely looks better than some kart games that boast much larger IP. The karts themselves look inventive, and there are few obstacles to worry about in the footage so far, except for the titular Gigantosaurus.
The whole trailer was filled with a cozy, safe, and playful mood that will surely please younger gamers and their parents. That makes Gigantosaurus Dino Kart a smooth introduction to gaming. And although the educational element has basically been disregarded, the split-screen approach definitely encourages families and friends to play together, making it inexpensive to boot.
Overall, Gigantosaurus Dino Kart may seem like a niche game, which won’t move quickly or dangerously enough for fans of traditional titles like the ongoing Mario Kart franchise. But Gigantosaurus The Game received fairly positive reviews when it released back in 2020, and performed just fine.
While that game focused on exploration, the racing genre is a natural elaboration for the existing mechanics. It’s honestly a surprise that kart racing didn’t come first.
