LEGO Bricktales shows off gameplay in new trailer

LEGO Bricktales has just released a brand-new trailer, revealing the tone and some of the challenges players will need to complete. The devs still haven’t confirmed a release date, though the game is expected sometime in Q4 of 2022. It’ll be available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and the Switch.

Here’s LEGO Bricktales’ full trailer as seen on Xbox’s official YouTube channel:

LEGO Bricktales has been developed by ClockStone, the team behind Bridge Constructor Portal, making them a perfect fit for thoughtful (yet amusing) puzzle gameplay.

LEGO Bricktales is a puzzle game with good messages for young players and a relaxed tone. The trailer features some impressive graphics, and although the gameplay looks very similar to Apple Arcade’s Lego Builder’s Journey, it’s still a good approach.

Most LEGO games are tied to some kind of pop culture, such as the monumental hit LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which is expected to show at the giant Disney and Marvel Games Showcase on September 9th, 2022.

But without that kind of IP, this game has the opportunity to find the fundamental joys of LEGO: creativity, casual rebuilding, and problem-solving. As a result, LEGO Bricktales looks very promising.

Players will explore a variety of dioramas, helping local minifigures and unlocking new skills alongside a robot sidekick. The main character’s grandfather has called for help repairing his amusement park and bringing it up to code before the mayor closes it down.

Aside from the journey, players will also get a Sandbox Mode after completing each construction spot, so you can freely build. At that point, it’s sort of like making BrickLink Studio available on consoles, and that’s a good thing.

Players can also customize their character throughout the game, and have plenty of collectibles to find, just like any other LEGO game.
