Like a Dragon: Ishin! is a spin-off game in the Like A Dragon series developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by SEGA. It was originally released on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in February 2014. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio announced on September 14, 2022, that a remake of Like a Dragon: Ishin! would be released on February 21, 2023.

The choice to localize Ishin! was prompted by the popularity of western titles such as Ghost of Tsushima, which also had a historical samurai premise. Recently, SEGA gives a first look at Like a Dragon: Ishin! combat features. Watch the Like a Dragon: Ishin! | Combat Trailer, courtesy of SEGA’s official Youtube channel:

As with the game’s previous version, Like a Dragon: Ishin! is set in 1860s Kyoto, plagued by widespread inequality. However, one samurai will change the course of history in his search for justice. Players will take up the sword of Sakamoto Ryoma and venture to Kyoto to find his father’s killer. In doing so, Ryoma will bring an end to the samurai era and forever change the future of Japan. Players must join the revolution and engage in visceral combat, switching between four different battle styles: Swordsman, Gunman, Wild Dancer and Brawler.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! will have a Digital Deluxe Edition that adds a new challenge to the player’s journey and provides them with more resources to overcome it. The Deluxe Edition features the following:

  • Shinsengumi Captain’s Set
