Open-world football RPG, Soccer Story, is scheduled for release on November 29

Soccer Story is an upcoming open-world football role-playing game developed by PanicBarn and published by No More Robots. In this game, every local soccer stadium, team, and tournament has all been closed down. Thankfully, a magical soccer ball has determined who will save the sport of soccer. In the world of Soccer Story, it has been over a year since The Calamity tore apart the very foundations of soccer as it is known, and ever since then, Soccer Inc. has made it a point to ensure that no one is even permitted to look at a soccer ball, much alone kick one. This physics-driven adventure RPG will allow players to take on all challenges by using a reliable magic ball.

As players start their journey in a world where soccer has been banned, they will have to defeat enemies in one-on-one combat and compete in a variety of sports (with a soccer ball). There are also additional multiplayer matches available in Soccer Story. Players are allowed to recruit up to three friends and compete against them in local multiplayer matches. There will also be a large number of teams and captains for players to select from, allowing them to discover their unique playstyle and organize their tournaments at their leisure on any of the many available fields, ranging from home matches at Soccertown to the expansive Soccer Inc Stadium.

Here are the basic game mechanics of Soccer Story, as posted on their Steam page:

  • Drop your soccer ball and play anywhere! The world is full of goals, puzzles, and secrets – it’s up to you to find them!
  • Play a single-player story full of quirky characters, quests, rogue refs, and wacky soccer-adjacent sports
  • Build your soccer career and do battle against the fiercest soccer teams like literal sharks, toddlers, old-age pensioners, and ninjas
  • Save soccer and restore peace and harmony to the world
  • Grab a friend for a four-player local multiplayer match mode with a full roster of teams and animal captains

Soccer Story will launch on GamePass, Switch, Steam and PlayStation on November 29th. Access to a free Steam beta is now available by claiming a key here.
