PlayStation Plus announces Yakuza and more for August lineup

An official blog post from Director Adam Michel revealed three big titles coming to PlayStation Plus subscribers beginning August 2nd, 2022. The new games include Yakuza: Like A Dragon, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, and the original Little Nightmares.

Fans can download the games on Premium, Extra and Essential according to the promo image in PlayStation’s official Tweet:

Little Nightmares is a side-scrolling horror game, with terrifying imagery, platforming and puzzles. It’s a landmark game, but the sequel’s already been out for a year.

Meanwhile, the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater bundle is a great remaster of the classic gameplay and soundtrack. It’s also one of the few co-op games that still offers split screen features, so you wouldn’t have to buy it twice.

Little Nightmares and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater are almost unanimously loved titles. However, their popularity also makes them more likely to already be in subscribers’ library. They’ve also been around for a while, so this isn’t the biggest reward when players need to wait every month for new games.

The action RPG Yakuza: Like A Dragon is arguably the star here. In fact, eight Yakuza games are all expected to join PlayStation Plus throughout the year beginning next month, according to a new tweet from PlayStation:

PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members will get access to Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 later in August.

And later this year, you’ll need Extra and Premium again to play Yakuza 3 Remastered, Yakuza 4 Remastered, Yakuza 5 Remastered and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life.

No official release dates have been confirmed for any of these additions. But players could already have many of the Yakuza titles after the PS Summer Sale, so hopefully other titles will buff the subscription service.
