Fans of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare rejoice: According to new leaks, Sledgehammer games is set to develop Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare 2, bringing a return to the near-future FPS setting in what’s sure to be an ambitious sequel.

This information comes from reputable leaker RalphsValve, posting on What If Gaming, who claims that Sledgehammer is working on the title. Further rumors suggest that game is set to release in 2025, but these could not be substantiated by the Try Hard Guides team.

RalphsValve’s claims have been backed up by TheGhostOfHope, who is also a reputable source for leaks and information in the CoD world. This being the case, all signs point to Advanced Warfare 2 at least planned, if not already being developed.

Sledgehammer Games is the sole developer of the original Advanced Warfare, which was released way back in 2016. The shooter took players beyond Call of Duty’s modern and historic settings into the near future, with exoskeletons and advanced weapons making the battlefield all the more deadly and exciting.

Sledgehammer was also in charge of Call of Duty: Vanguard, and originally planned to expand on the same setting. However, it looks like due to the game’s less than stellar reception, they’re returning to their roots and heading to the future instead of the past with this new title.
