Splatoon 3 announces Splatfest World Premiere Demo for August 2022

Shortly after breaking the internet with a stunning Nintendo Direct showcase, Splatoon 3 continued a series of rapid-fire announcements that included a free World Premiere Demo. Fans can pre-download the demo to play it right when it rolls out on August 27th, 9 AM pacific time.

Here’s the official tweet from Nintendo’s feed, which mentions the Rock, Paper, and Scissors teams that new players can choose from:

The Splatoon 3 Splatfest World Premiere will last for 12 hours. Between 9 AM and 3 PM, players can try out the traditional Turf Wars. Afterwards, you’ll get your first hands-on gameplay with the Tricolor Turf War Battles, which pits a team of 4 against two teams of 2. This is what the Rock, Paper and Scissors announcement was referring to.

As long as you don’t already have an ongoing subscription to Nintendo Switch Online, downloading the free Splatoon demo will give you a trial membership code that can be redeemed once the demo goes live. It has to be redeemed before midnight on August 31st, according to a follow-up tweet:

This trial will last for a full week, letting you practice with 26 different weapons, check out the Test Range, and share messages or art in the square. After all, according to the official post, players will get to “take a stroll around Splatsville”, the new city that’s connected to Greater Inkopolis.

It’s a great way to get started, if the previous installments didn’t have enough content to interest you just yet. There’ll also be a tutorial mode in the demo to help you get started.

The demo is welcome news for everyone who was excited by the new Nintendo Direct, which showed off countless new features that will completely transform the Splatoon series.

With a dozen stages, a variety of new game modes, useful customization and more, Splatoon 3 is the perfect jumping on point for newcomers. Splatoon 3 is scheduled to launch on September 9th, 2022.
