Ubisoft reveals environment-themed events for Brawlhalla and more

Ubisoft, the studio who is best known for their Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry franchises, has announced that they will support the upcoming 27th United Nations Climate Change conference with new in-game events. These include Brawlhalla, Hungry Shark World, Rocksmith+, Trackmania, and more to come.

The events will roll out throughout “the next few weeks”. Here’s the full statement from Ubisoft’s Twitter feed:

It’s self-evident that this is an important gesture from Ubisoft, because unfortunately, the subject matter is often overlooked or even sneered at. Now, some of the in-game celebrations are more interesting than others, as Brawlhalla simply adds an emote, while Hungry Shark World is introducing an entirely new game mode.

Next week, beginning November 8th, Hungry Shark World will add a “Protect the Baby Shark” mode, which somehow wasn’t already a thing. Glutwell Corp. will return to the game with a “new plan”, so it sounds like players could end up with responsibilities that blend tower defense with escort missions.

Hopefully it’ll feel like Yoshi’s Island, where defending Baby Mario was a compelling task. The LTM is simple, clever, and seems genuinely fun. That’s crucial because people just don’t enjoy, let alone digest, shoehorned messages.

Rocksmith+ is attempting to educate players about how wood is used for instrument manufacturing, which is a good idea on paper, but sadly appears like it may be a reach to get it in-game. But it’s always nice to see real-world tree planting getting funded.

Trackmania has done the same. Additionally, the underrated racing game and track-builder will feature a couple of winners from a green contest between November 11th and November 13th, 2022. Ubisoft promises that even more of this environmental support should be expected “in the coming months”.
