Ukrainian devs FragLab reveal first trailer for “Shatterline”

FragLab’s upcoming first-person shooter Shatterline finally got an official cinematic trailer today, revealing the main enemies, premise, and some gorgeous art design. The game is currently scheduled to release on February 9th, 2023.

Here’s the full trailer from Shatterline’s official YouTube channel, which includes two minutes of footage:

Shatterline appeared on Steam a while ago, but the description of the game focused on its mechanics and features instead of the setting or premise.

The game will be an Arena FPS with classic shooter modes like Team Deathmatch, Plant-the-Bomb, and Escort. Players can select from 8 different operatives, and 25 various weapons that can be modded with attachments. The operatives are described as “unique”, promising some personality to the characters, which is always appreciated.

Now, the new cinematic trailer reveals that the in-game world is filled with a monstrous enemy that infects living things and makes jagged crystals or rocks grow out of them. But the main characters that players can choose from are immune, allowing them to fight back.

The trailer is filled with engaging horror imagery and music, with a surprising finale that seems to relate to the cooperative rogue-lite mode “Expedition”. It looks like players will need to band together to defeat a massive, Kaiju-sized creature, who is possibly the root cause of the infections.

The graphics and content look very satisfying. The developers, FragLab, are based in Ukraine, so their website is currently dedicated to supporting their armies against the Russian invasion. This is achieved through the Help Lab International Charity Foundation.

Shatterline is definitely a title to keep a close eye on, and fans have only met the new trailer with praise. While some screenshots are available on Steam, it’ll be great to see some gameplay in the future.
